Coronavirus song

art

The idea to write this coronavirus song just hit me this afternoon. I have been following up on coronavirus information and news since January 2020. The lyrics give a very brief review of the coronavirus situation from novel to pandemic to endemic over the past year. It contains meaningful rhymes. Then I put links to some old articles that are mostly news or technical.

♫  (To the tune of Oh My Darling, Clementine)

Coronavirus, coronavirus, has club-shaped spike proteins
Did PCR test; does thorax CT
show ground-glass opacity?

Coronavirus, novel virus, 2019-nCoV
Got a new name: SARS-CoV-2
Causing more than just a flu?

Coronavirus, pandemic virus, Covid-19 cases increase
Dreadful stories, lock down the city
Or wait for herd immunity?

Coronavirus, endemic virus, oh alas, here forever
Took the vaccine: Moderna, Pfizer
Are we still tracing together?

It is notable that the original lyrics of Oh My Darling, Clementine also has a dark meaning under the seemingly innocent and cheerful melody.

For me, I had some rather interesting and unfortunate experience last year due to travel restrictions. Earlier this year, I took the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which has been linked to heart inflammation or myocarditis in some young male recipients after the second dose. I am young and male, and in the first two days after the second injection, I did experience intense heart muscle pain that I never had before. I suspect this is an underreported issue.
